Dr. Olivia Franks, ND
Dr. Franks received her Doctorate in Natural Medicine (N.D.) from Bastyr University. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Dr. Franks completed her bachelor of science in life sciences biology at University of Guelph in Ontario.
Prior to entering clinical practice at Tahoma Clinic, Dr. Franks served as consulting physician at Meridian Valley Laboratory. In this capacity, she became expert in the complex chemistry of natural human steroids (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and many others) enabling her to provide interpretation of urinary hormone steroid profiles to physicians new to bio-identical hormone replacement. Dr. Franks continues to provide these consultation services in addition to her patient schedule.
Her
interest in bio-identical
hormone therapies launched Dr. Franks into special research on the
benefits and
safety of bio-identical estrogens.
One
of her articles resulting from this research recently appeared in the August 2008
issue of Life Extension magazine.
Estriol: its weakness is its strength
With her medical practice at Tahoma Clinic focusing largely on women’s health issues, Dr. Franks became interested in thermography, a non-invasive, radiation-free breast health screening technique. She pursued education in digital infrared breast thermography, the most advanced technique currently available, and received her certification in early 2008. Currently, Dr. Franks is the only Northwest physician certified to perform this advanced form of thermography.
Dr.
Franks writes about
her practice at Tahoma Clinic:
“It
brings me joy to help others avoid disease
through preventive natural medicine as well as to restore health in
those who
are already struggling with disease.
It
is my honor to educate and guide others
toward their optimal health.
“It is wonderful to be working with such a well-educated and forward-thinking team of physicians”.
Dr. Franks works closely
with Dr. Jonathan Wright, Medical Director, and with the other doctors
of
Tahoma Clinic. She
is currently
accepting new patients. Appointments
